GEEA (Genetic Engineering Experiment Agency) has been modifying human genes for many years in the hopes of enhancing human life. At least, that is what they said they were doing. But under the surface GEEA were experimenting not only on humans genes but on animals, and as a test experiment they put together the genes of a cat and a human. The experiment was successful and a new entity was born. It lived for three months before it developed a disease that came from seemingly nowhere. GEEA, although disappointed were not disheartened, they quickly made another Genetically Modified Creature but this one also died. GEEA continued on with their experimentation for years until one of their experiments lived and stayed alive. They kept the new being in a cage for tests so they could duplicate the results. It was the First successful GeMoc and they named it EnFeMan1 Meaning Enhanced Feline Man 1. Following their success with EnFeMan1 came many others GeMoc, and then came GeMoa, animals with advanced intelligence, far surpassing that of their brethren. GEEA thought themselves gods and created many different types of GeMocs, striving to make them better, live longer.
Then what they were doing was leaked to the public and caused an uproar. The Police and Armed Forces invaded GEEA and found the experiments kept deep underground in horrible conditions. GEEA was shut down and their experiments would be humanely euthanized. But when the officials went down to put the GeMocs to sleep they found that the experiments were intelligent and this caused another uproar from the general public, demanding the experiments protection. The GeMocs were set free and put in camps while the governments of the world decided what to do about them, Eventually it was decided that the GeMocs were to dangerous to live and the armed forces were called in to exterminate them. The GeMoa were smart enough to act like dumb animals, and they were released into a wild that most knew nothing about.
One man from GEEA had managed to escape the raid on their head quarters and had gone into hiding, along with their latest experiment. Determined to fulfill the GEEA legacy and having no one to experiment on, the man shot a load of the experiment into himself. At first the experiment seemed to be effective. The man became strong, and fast. His bones and muscles hardened. He became invincible. Then something went wrong. As with the first experiment the man was struck with the unknown disease, the disease came out with symptoms similar to rabies, he started to rot, skin falling off his body. Instead of dying though, the man went on a rampage, his mind gone and with more brute strength then was possible the man broke into a human hospital, killing hundreds. The FBI was brought in and they managed to subdue the beast. The survivors were transferred to another hospital to heal the wounds that the man beast had given them, but unknown to anyone the disease had spread. The disease spread quickly through the infected patients, rotting their brains and then their skin until they became little more then animals. The infected patients attacked other patients and as the disease spread it became harder and harder to keep the patients contained safely. Some had to escape. And some did, creeping through forgotten tunnels they came up into the light and attacked, spreading the disease.
The GeMocs were set to be exterminated when the diseased humans reached them, knowing what they were and how they had come to be they fled, soon the world was overtaken with beasts, with zombies. Pockets of survivors are spread across the world, both human and GeMocs hiding together. In the chaos that came from the disease the experiments no longer seem so much of a threat, in fact they are helpful. But there are still those who blame them for the disease and wish to exterminate them.
And so, The Ghosts of the Past begins.
