TAKEN AND ADAPTED FROM ULTIMATE PARANOIA[http://ultimateparanoia.proboards.com/index.cgi]
The codeword is hidden here, look for the bolded letters and put them together.
Rules, rules, rules...... Is chaos really that bad?
IC RULES -
1) Starting with the obvious, no powerplaying or god-moding! For those who don't know, powerplaying means that you start acting for someone elses character by making them do stuff you want them to E.g. injuries/accidents, deaths, pregnancies, decision making etc. God-moding means that your character - is just that. They cant fly, they cant sprout Extra legs or get away uninjured from any battle/fight. Don't give them powers that any normal character of that creature type wouldn't have. Also, we do accept the odd and quirky character that no one else will love but if you do make a character please be as realistic as possible with everything about it. This ties in with the God-moding, i.e. no people with super powers[other than specified in the Creature Bios, see other subboard in Rules], but also - please can we not have any sparkly pink and green charries with stars in their hair etc etc.
2) No impersonAting!! NEVER pretend to be someone else/someone elses character! This can have very serious implications. If you said something that offended another member or guest whilst impersonating someone else - that person would then be wrongly blamed for it and, depending on the severity of what was said, possibly even banned from the forum when it is not their fault. DON'T DO IT!!
3) No outrageous swearinG.In OOC it will not be tolerated as long as it's not to often. In character, it will be allowed as long as it isn't every second word used. We're all mature here, so I know we can not abuse this power, otherwise swears will be banned.
4) No chat speak. E.g. 'Bt te grl sed i lv u n ran away' It's a descriptive writing forum - please write properly or don't bother in the first place, kthx. (Haha - joke =D)
5) KIDS! Everyone loves kids! A few things to take note about children::
· Firstly, you cannot own both the mother And the father.
· You may not RP the child, unless there isn't enough members to adopt it out.
· Both characters and their RPers must agree to being mates/having kids beforehand.
· No child is born eviL. They have their own personalities yes, but if you want an evil character something needs to happen to them in life to turn them nasty - it doesn't just pop into their head overnight.
· There's no rule against slightly graphic posts about baby-making so long as it says in the thread title that the posts may be graphic and that everyone knows what it's about e.g. [GRAPHIC-ROMANCE]
6) On that note, if you wish to make a thread or post that may be quite graphic in the violence/gore meaning of the word then please also put this in the thread title e.g. [GRAPHIC-VIOLENCE]
7) When you creatE a character you are welcome to create a adult without taking him/her through their childhood/apprenticeship.
8) There wont be a specific limit on the number of characters you have but if you do intend to have more than one character as long as you keep them all listed in your signature. You must keep all your characters active. If you can't keep all of your characters active you can have them adopted or if you don't want them to exist anymore you can kill them off but make sure you finish any threads you may have with them and make a thread describing their death.
9) You must have at least one human, it doesn't have to be your first character and you don't have to make one right away but you must make one within three to five months, humans are the most common species and we need it to be as such.
10) Your character may have one abnormality [ie irridescent hair], but it must be accepted by the admin, and must be within reason. Characters may dye their har/wear contacts, but if you decide to do so, make it clear that this is what is happening.
11) Your characters may have jobs, and if they have that job at the time of creation, post it in the OTHER category, subtitled JOB. Otherwise, you may post in the jobs board with the kind of job you are looking for.
POSTING RULES - (and there are quite a few)
1) Posts must be a decent length or they will be ignored/deleted. I don't mean a full 400 page novel - just not one or two squiddly little lines. At the very least ONE paragraph per post please. There is a word counter at the bottom of the posting box, under the buttons, so try to keep every post over 200 words if possible.
2) No double-posting. E.g.
POST 1: 'Hello?' called Mary.
POST 2: On hearing no answer, Mary walked on into the alleys.
So no post should be that lame but you get what I mean. If no one answers your post within 3 weeks, granted, you have reason to put your hand up. Bear in mind though, please, that some people who use this forum have busy lives and cant always visit every day.
3) Spelling and grammar are important! We do have a spell checker on the site, but if that ever breaks down, there's always things like Microsoft word that will check it all for you. The occasional mishap is forgiven, but constant errors will be picked up on.
4) Posts must be written in the third person. E.g. 'Mary walked deeper into the alley, looking warily over her shoulder as she went.' This is in the third person, compared to 'I walked deeper into the alley, looking warily over my shoulder as I went.'
OOC RULES -
Gah! There's more! I know how you feel - but please read on!
1) No swearing please and thanks. The same applies as was said there... don't know? Well you didn't read them properly then - go back and try again. Minor things such as 'crap' and 'bloody' are fine.
2) No abuse of guests or other members, this includes flaming. IF YOU ARE CAUGHT DOING THIS YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM THE SITE.
3) Please try to limit the amount of Spam you do. If it’s your thread and everyone knows you and how crazy you are/can be, then you may Spam a little bit. However, if it’s someone else’s thread please do respect it.
4) Activity checks will be held occasionally or earlier than that if needs be. As mentioned above, we wont limit your number of characters, but if you make a lot please keep them all active! Otherwise they will either be adopted out to other people or just plain deleted. (NB: There is a leaving/going away board - if you are going to be away for a bit please let us know! That way we wont delete your character(s) in a spontaneous activity check!)
